POULTNEY, Vt. In the bottom of the seventh, Rivendell Academy baseball was in a jam on the road.
Poultney had the bases loaded with one out, trailing the Raptors 17-15.
Rivendell head coach Eric Reichert made a pitching change in the big spot: he called on senior Nate Parkin. And Parkin shut Poultney down. He struck out the first batter and induced a groundout to end the game. Rivendell won 17-15.
Much of the Raptors’ damage came in a 10-run fifth inning.
Junior Wyatt Underhill paced Rivendell with a 3-for-5 game, with four RBIs, four runs, and five stolen bases. Senior Ty Newman went 2 for 5 with a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Sophomore Harry Molesworth went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs.
