Louisville partnering with Energize Kentucky to administer Energy Program Assessment District Program

April 22, 2021 Mayor Greg Fischer announced today that Louisville Metro Government has entered into an agreement with Energize Kentucky for the administration of an Energy Project Assessment District (EPAD) program. The EPAD program allows for Louisville’s businesses and organizations to install renewable energy systems and increase their energy efficiency by providing a financing mechanism on property tax bills. As the administrator, Energize Kentucky will continue to advance the EPAD program through outreach to the local community via contractors, commercial real estate companies and commercial property owners.  To date, the participating property owners only had one option for the billing and collection of the EPAD special assessment. New initiative in Louisville seeks to connect Black-owned contractors

LOUISVILLE, Ky.   An initiative to support Black-owned businesses in Louisville is expanding its platform, with help from Louisville Metro Government, to help connect Black-owned contractors with companies and organizations. The Black Contractors Network is an expansion of Buy Black Lou, an initiative that is focused on advertising and connecting Black-Owned businesses through a Facebook page and an app. The initiative was launched in 2019 by Tanika Bryant, the executive director of the nonprofit Black Business Association in Louisville. Louisville Forward, the city s economic development arm, has provided a $50,000 grant and technical assistance for the new addition to the initiative. Through the network, Black-owned contractors can create profiles making themselves available for companies, and companies looking for contractors can create a profile to list jobs and projects for bid.
