Updated at Share This Courtesy City of Idaho Falls IDAHO FALLS After a year hiatus from the COVID-19 pandemic, Idaho’s oldest rodeo returns to Idaho Falls next week. The 110th War Bonnet Round Up kicks off Wednesday at Sandy Downs with the free rodeo kick-off event. The kick-off, usually held in downtown Idaho Falls, has moved to the rodeo grounds to accommodate a bigger celebration. We hope all of east Idaho will turn out to help celebrate with us.”

Upcoming Texas Constitutional Amendment Election

Each November, after the Texas Legislature holds their biennial lawmaking session, Texas voters are usually presented a set of constitutional amendments to vote upon. This November will be no different from those Novembers of odd-years past. Texas voters in 2021 will decide the fate eight constitutional amendments. On Thursday, the Texas Secretary of State s office revealed the ballot order. Early voting will start in October, in advance of the November 2 election date. Texans will have the opportunity to approve the following amendments with a majority vote: (analysis by Rob Snyder after select amendments written in italics) Proposition 1 (HJR 143) The constitutional amendment authorizing the professional sports team charitable foundations of organizations sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association or the Women s Professional Rodeo Association to conduct charitable raffles at rodeo venues.

Voters will decide if Texas leaders can close churches during a disaster

Joseph Brown jbrown@itemonline.com 13 hrs ago HUNTSVILLE — Texas voters will decide on a proposed constitutional amendment that would designate all places of worship in the state as essential — barring them from closure during a disaster. The joint-resolution came after shutdowns during the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited capacity and closed indoor services for churches, mosques, and temples. It passed the Texas Senate with a 28-2 vote and the Texas House with a 108-33 vote. “SJR 27 very simply proposes a constitutional amendment making it explicitly clear that the state, or any political subdivision of the state, cannot close down or limit our houses of worship or religious services. Period,” said Rep. Jeff Leach (R-Plano), carrier of the bill’s House companion.

Cowboy who surprised responders in full gallop on I-70 is also winner of team roping contest at Eagle rodeo

Dwight Sells, the rider who attempted to take his rodeo skills from the arena to the interstate Friday in a horse rescue attempt, learned on Sunday that he was also the winner of the team roping contest at the 81st Eagle County Fair & Rodeo. While Sells competes throughout the summer every year, he said the 2021 Eagle County Fair & Rodeo just might go down as the most memorable event in his career. Sells and partner Cameron Tsinigine won the team roping contest’s overall average for the event, the highest team roping payout of the event at $1,560 apiece. Sells has won events on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association circuit before, but the Eagle County Fair & Rodeo win was Tsinigine’s first.
