A long-term strategic plan, encompassing two Olympic cycles, has been launched by the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC).
BOC officials and staff spent two days discussing the plan which will take in Winter Olympic Games at Beijing 2022 and Milan Cortina 2026 and Summer Olympic Games at Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028.
The exercise was to formulate a draft plan to cover two Olympic cycles, starting from July 2021 and going through to June 2029.
The new plan consists of four key objectives and 15 strategies, with athlete development at the heart of the proposals.
A series of consultative meetings with coaches and sports administrators were conducted earlier this year as part of this strategy.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission for the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Games has observed that great progress has been made by organisers in the past six months.
Meeting for the second time today, in a virtual setting given the global health crisis, the Coordination Commission heard how lessons had been learnt from Cortina d Ampezzo staging the Alpine World Ski Championships in February and that more than 850,000 votes were cast in the process which chose a logo for the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
Concerns over the legacy of the Cortina d Ampezzo sliding track have again been raised, but the IOC says any decision made in Italy will be respected, and discussions surrounding the Baselga di Pine outdoor oval, due to be used for speed skating, are said to be ongoing,
Consortium to masterplan the Olympic Village for Milan Cortina 2026 chosen Wednesday, 14 April 2021
An international team to masterplan the Olympic Village for Milan Cortina 2026 has been announced, with a consortium including London-based PLP Architecture and New York City’s Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Carlo Ratti Associati of Turin and Gross Max of Edinburgh.
The competition sought proposals to transform Milan’s Porta Romana railway yard - an enormous 216,779 square metre disused train depot - into a 1,000-unit Athletes’ Village along with offices, social housing, railway infrastructure and a large 100,000 square metre park connected to the wider city.
Following the Games, the accommodation will be converted into student housing.
