A: There are a bazillion ways to make math fun and the Michigan Learning Channel’s Math Mights is one of them. Children must develop problem solving skills as a key to understanding math concepts. These skills aren’t always easy to learn but the Mathville Gang can help. Math Mights are a way to tie math strategies to characters that will help students understand math processes differently than just solving problems one way. This series promotes students’ communicated reasoning, so they are able to confidently explain their thinking. It also provides a common language in schools so students can learn about the characters and the strategies in first grade, and then apply the same strategies to higher level concepts as they grow.

New Michigan Learning Channel program features Chandler Park teacher
HARPER WOODS A teacher at Chandler Park Academy in Harper Woods will be highlighted on the Michigan Learning Channel’s new “Read, Write, Roar” program.
The Michigan Learning Channel, which launched in January over the air on Detroit Public Television Channel 56.5 to deliver instructional content and programming to students, parents and teachers throughout Michigan, developed “Read, Write, Roar” to help provide at-home support for families, particularly during times when many students are learning from home.

EAST LANSING, MI; Jan. 22, 2021 WKAR Public Media has joined other Michigan public television stations in launching the Michigan Learning Channel (MLC), available statewide on a series of new dedicated broadcast channels. Developed in partnership with leading educators and community leaders, the network delivers instructional content and programming to students, parents and teachers.
In the WKAR television viewing area, the Michigan Learning Channel is broadcasting now over the air on channel 23.5. Antenna users may need to rescan to add the new channel. It is also available as a Live TV stream at MichiganLearning.org and select content is posted there for on-demand viewing.
