Police smash notorious bandit syndicate operating in Nigeria, Niger

In its efforts to fight armed robbery, kidnapping, banditry, arms trafficking and other forms of crimes, the Katsina State Police Command has nabbed a notorious arms suppliers to bandits in the forest.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the Police headquarters in Katsina, the State Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba said based on credible intelligence, the command has been following a lead, on one Lawan Zayyana,‘m’, aged 35yrs of Muduru village, Mani Local Government Area of Katsina state, a notorious bandit and arms and ammunition supplier to bandits in the forest.

A father and two of his sons were among sixteen suspects paraded on Monday at the Katsina police headquarters for alleged banditry and supply of weapons to bandits.
Two General Purpose Machine Guns, one LAR rifle, and 200 pieces of anti-aircraft ammunition allegedly recovered from the suspects were among the items also displayed during the parade.
The arms dealer, Haruna Yusuf, 47; his two sons Shuaibu Haruna, 18, Murtala Haruna, 20, and his nephew Ibrahim Salisu, 20, all of Sawarya village, Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State were paraded.
Those paraded also included were two Nigeriens, Ibrahim Dabo,19, and Umar Bello, 28.

The Katsina State Police Command, on Monday, disclosed that it has arrested an alleged supplier of arms and ammunition to bandits in the state.
The police said that one Haruna Yusuf, 47, and other suspects found with two machine guns and 179 anti-aircraft ammunition were arrested.
Mr. Sanusi Buba, the state Commissioner of Police, made this known during a news conference in Katsina on Monday.
Buba explained that the suspects were arrested in their hideouts at Sawarya village, Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina.
He said, “Based on credible intelligence, the command has been following the lead of the suspect.
