School bus strikes, kills child on bike in Grand Ledge Associated Press View Comments Grand Ledge   A 9-year-old boy on a bike was struck by a school bus and killed outside a school in Eaton County, authorities said. The incident occurred Monday afternoon outside Neff Kindergarten Center in Grand Ledge. Malachi Williams was in fourth grade at Beagle Elementary School. “We extend our deepest sympathy to the family, friends of the family and all in the GLPS community,” interim Superintendent David Chapin said in a note to parents. Counselors were at schools Tuesday to support students and staff. Grand Ledge police were investigating the crash, although negligence by the bus driver doesn’t appear to be the cause, Chief Thomas Osterholzer said.

Teen Victim In Fatal Grandview Shooting Identified

By WMAY Newsroom Photo: Shutterstock The Sangamon County Coroner has identified the teenager who was killed in a double shooting in Grandview last week. 17-year-old Malachi Williams died Saturday, two days after he and another 17-year-old were shot in the 22-hundred block of East Enterprise. An autopsy confirms Williams died of a gunshot wound. A 16-year-old suspect in the shootings is now facing murder and multiple other charges. Naszier T. Robinson will be tried as an adult and could face life in prison if convicted. He’s currently being held in the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Center on $3 million bond.

A 16-year-old was formally charged with first-degree murder

Steven Spearie (sspearie@sj-r.com) A 16-year-old was formally charged Tuesday with three counts of first-degree murder in adult court in the shooting death of a 17-year-old in Grandview. Nazsier T. Robinson, also faces an attempted first-degree murder charge and two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm. Sangamon County State s Attorney Dan Wright said first-degree murder cases are automatically transferred to adult court. If convicted on all charges, Robinson could face up to life in prison, Wright said. The shooting took place in the 2200 block of East Enterprise Avenue around 2 p.m. Thursday. Robinson was found behind a nearby house and taken into custody by authorities.
