(WMBF) - Some Ben & Jerry’s locations in Myrtle Beach were the center of a recent investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor, according to officials. The department said earlier this week that 61 employees received a total of $16,250 in back wages after the franchisee failed to pay overtime at six locations. Investigators said Bryers of MB Inc. and Rowland Dairies Inc., which operate all six facilities, paid workers straight time for all of the hours they worked.

Contractor paying back wages to construction workers on Eugene, Springfield affordable housing projects

A Salem construction contractor is paying more than $68,700 in back wages to 31 employees who worked on a federally funded Eugene-Springfield area housing project. A U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division investigation found Mustang Ridge Construction, a subcontractor of Eugene-based Meili Construction Inc., paid several employees rates below those required on the contract, according to a news release. The housing project, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, was awarded to Lane County s Homes for Good Housing Agency to convert 112 units into scattered-site public housing and to provide new residential construction at Hayden Bridge Landing.
