Region Eight RDC still in limbo
-AFC accuses PPP/C of delaying amidst efforts to replace lone independent councillor Jimmy James
December 13, 2020
The Alliance For Change (AFC) has accused the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) of deliberately delaying the convening of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) because it is unlikely to win the positions of Chair and Vice Chair.
Speaking during a virtual press conference on Friday, AFC General Secretary David Patterson described the delay in appointing the elected councillors as “a shameful disregard of the rights of the people of Region Eight to have their elected officials preside over their affairs” and announced that his party will be approaching the High Court to see the matter resolved.

Georgetown – Former president David Granger has blanked a request to attend a meeting called by his successor, Dr Irfaan Ali to discuss Guyana’s future development.
Ali said the meeting is scheduled to take place on December 15.
“It will be an open floor meeting where we will bring together all the former Presidents. I think it is an opportunity for us to continue to share ideas, generate ideas, talk about how we see Guyana’s development and to work out a model and a framework on how we engage on the future and how we have continuous contribution,” Ali said.
