4J to Discuss School Reopening Process at Next Wednesday Board Meeting

The Eugene 4J district will provide an update on reopening during their next Wednesday board meeting. With the state’s new reopening guidelines, districts have more control over deciding when students should start hybrid learning. But 4J school board chair Mary Walston said the district still needs to determine who has the final say on 4J students can return in-person. “I think it’s important to figure out what the decision making process [is]. Is it us seven? Or a series of recommendations from the superintendent? My understanding is Springfield the superintendent made the decision. My understanding is further that in Bethel they had an emergency board meeting last week and they decided not to go back into classes right away and continue with distance learning, said Walston.
