The Cathedral posted the picture of the fake solicitation letter Wednesday, April 21, on its Facebook page.
“Please be warned of a fake solicitation letter that is being sent to people asking for donations for the installation of Cardinal Jose Advincula Jr. as Archbishop of Manila,” the Cathedral said.
“We inform everyone that this letter is fraudulent and we are not soliciting money for Cardinal Advincula’s installation,” it further read.
The fake solicitation letter said that a fundraising is being initiated for the vestments, crosser pectoral cross, ring and other expenses for the supposed installation of Advincula on May 13.

The Archdiocese of Manila said the 500 Years Mission Cross, which has the name of Jesus inscribed in Roman letters and ancient Baybayin script intersecting, serves as a reminder of being Christians.
“Wearing a cross, we are reminded that we are Christians, we are Catholics, and we say yes to God’s mission,” the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Communications quoted Father Kali Pietre Llamado, Vice Rector of the Manila Cathedral and one of the priests in-charge of the preparations for the event.
“The Cross from the logo will be made into pendant crosses, to bring back the tradition of wearing a cross, to be a sign of our faith in Jesus, of protection from God, and most importantly, as a badge of our missionary work,” he added.
Ten churches in the Archdiocese of Manila will be declared as pilgrim churches in celebration of the 500 years of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines.

The Archdiocese of Manila will officially launch the celebration of the 500 Years of the Arrival of Christianity in the Philippines at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila on Feb. 6.
Apostolic Administrator of Manila Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo will lead the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 9 a.m. with the new Papal Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles John Brown.
According to the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Communications, aside from priests, religious, and laity, also expected to attend the Mass are five mayors in the cities covered by the archdiocese.
The 500 Years Mission Cross, which serves as a reminder of being Christians, will also be launched during the event.

The faithful shared their prayers online via the Facebook page of Quiapo Church while the Mass celebrated by Archdiocese of Manila apostolic administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo for the Feast of the Black Nazarene was ongoing.
