Police looking for person involved in deadly NW Austin hit-and-run
Austin police are working to track down the driver who hit and killed a person and then left the scene.
AUSTIN, Texas - Police are looking for the driver who hit and killed a person in Northwest Austin.
The Austin Police Department says the victim was pushing a shopping car across State Highway 45 near Parmer Lane at just before 2:30 a.m. this morning when they were hit.

AUSTIN, Texas A man is expected to be OK after a fiery crash early Friday morning near the Embassy Suites on South Congress Avenue and Barton Springs Road.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. Friday. Austin police told KVUE the man crashed his truck into a bus stop and it caught on fire.
He was taken to a local hospital and he is dealing with serious burns. Multiple people saw the crash and said the driver was able to get out of the car on his own, though some people did have to help pat flames off of him.
The crash happened Wednesday morning near Parmer Lane, police said.

AUSTIN, Texas Southbound Interstate 35 was shut down Wednesday morning due to traffic fatality near Parmer Lane, according to the Austin Police Department (APD).
The APD said all main lanes of southbound I-35 were affected and commuters should expect them to be closed for several hours. Police advised commuters to avoid the area.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) said traffic was being detoured to the frontage road at Braker Lane (exit 243).

Texas Children s Hospital will break ground on its Austin hospital in May. The hospital at 9835 N. Lake Creek Parkway near Texas 45 was announced last May, but the COVID-19 pandemic has changed some of the initial design plans.
The hospital is now expected to open around February 2024 instead of late 2023. It will open with 52 patient beds and room for expansion, including areas that will not be built out initially and plans for additional buildings, in a 25- to 30-year growth plan, said Michelle Riley-Brown, executive vice president of Texas Children’s Hospital.
The campus will include the 365,000-square-foot hospital and a 170,000-square-foot outpatient specialty medical building. The two buildings will be connected through a glassed-in large lobby. It s a $485 million project that also includes a 1,200-space garage with free parking.
