Pam Booth-Waite remains unconvinced her rates will not increase now her land has been valued 40 per cent higher than in 2017.
It’s a common misconception that rates rise in tandem with increase in land value, the Timaru District Council says. The council was responding to concerns expressed by Timaru resident Pam Booth-Waite after receiving the latest QV valuation for her property. The value of Booth-Waite s land has increased 40 per cent since 2017, but the value of the investments on her land dropped 44 per cent. The change led her to raise concerns she could face an increased rates bill as a result of the new valuation.
