MUMBAI: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawan was arrested after he smashed up two official vehicles parked at Grant Road in a fit of rage in the early hours of Thursday.
Head constable Vikram Sajjansingh, 39, told police officials that he was furious after his leave application was cancelled by the administration at the last moment. Senior RPF officials, however, rubbished his claims and said that he was, in fact, on leave when the incident occurred. He has been suspended from duty.

The Eastern Railway had last week decided to discontinue 16 trains from May 7 due to poor patronization. In a tweet, Eastern Railway has requested passengers to plan their journey accordingly and has regretted the Inconvenience.
It may be recalled that in April, considering the severity of the situation in the aftermath of the second wave of COVID-19 and also owing to low passenger load, the Indian Railways has decided to cancell 40 train services.
North Western Railway (NWR) region deputy general manager Lt. Shashi Kiran said that the cancellation of these 40 trains will remain suspended till further orders.
Bombay high court
MUMBAI: Observing that Mumbai police’s approach to a tweet by Navi Numbai resident Sunaina Holey was “hypersensitive and overcautious”, the Bombay high court on Wednesday quashed a criminal case against her for her social media post last April on a gathering of migrant workers outside Bandra Terminus.
She was charged with promoting communal disharmony during the nationwide lockdown, reports Swati Deshpande.
The HC said the tweet does not disclose any guilty mind or intention of Holey (39) to commit the alleged offence under IPC Section 153A to promote enmity between different groups. The case against her was “too far-fetched”, said the court, adding that neither has any community nor any religion been named in the tweet.
