Say hello to our 12 Nurses of the Year finalists! The narrowing the field down to 12 was the hardest thing we’ve had to do in, well, forever. We have soooo many talented and dedicated nurses in Mifflin and Juniata counties, so it was no fun at all having to leave some out.
That being said, it is go-time for voting for five of these folks to be named a Nurse of the Year from Shade Mountain Naturals and Merf Radio! The five nurses receiving the most votes will each win a $75 gift card to Shade Mountain Naturals!
Keep this in mind, before you vote: you may vote once a day every day, from now through 11:30 p.m. on May 12th. Make sure you tell your family and friends to vote for your favorite nominee. An awesome prize is on the line!
The Bridger-Teton National Forest has proposed a suite of projects for its trail crews to tackle during the summer of 2021, including reroutes, some heavy maintenance and one all-new system route.
That lone new trail is a short one thatâs slated for the Granite Falls area north of the Hoback Canyon. Currently the way from the road to the broad, stunning waterfall is braided with steep âsocial trailsâ that are potentially dangerous, according to a scoping notice that the forest issued.
âCrews will construct a new sustainable trail that is accessed directly from the parking lot over to the base of the waterfall,â the notice says, âand close and rehabilitate all the existing social trails.â
Unbeknownst to everyone in Aspen, a dog breeder has set up shop at the base of Shadow Mountain.
Using puppy pictures that only a heartless old cur wouldn’t melt over, the alleged breeder has baited the internet hook and told customers as recently as last week that their beagles, dachshunds and King Charles spaniels would be shipped from an address in the 700 block of South Monarch Street, according to Aspen Police Department reports. Police have visited the site and confirmed it is a residence and not a business, said Aspen Assistant Police Chief Bill Linn.
“You know what the popular kind (of dog for sale on the sites) is? Cute,” said Linn. “All are super adorable-looking and the sweetest puppies you could ever imagine.”
Raised in the Kitchen offers family recipes with heart
Raised in the kitchen is how things used to be, and are again.
Just ask any kid. They want to be part of their meal and to know where their food comes from. They ve grown up exposed to Food Network and an endless lineup of cooking shows. That has changed a lot of things.
What hasn t changed is parents wanting to make memories with their children.
Those are the reasons why Carrian Cheney wrote Raised in the Kitchen (Shadow Mountain, $21.99). Dinnertime doesn t have to be mom slaving away by herself all day, she said. It can be quick and easy, fun and healthy, and a time to be totally unplugged with the family.
