Maine’s high court finds aquaculture worker covered by workers’ comp
The Supreme Judicial Court rules that the worker is covered under state law, and is not considered a seaman under federal admiralty law.

An aquaculture worker who got hurt tending to salmon raised in offshore pens is covered under state law, but not under the federal law that defines some of the rights for mariners, Maine’s Supreme Judicial Court ruled.
The court ruled unanimously on Tuesday in a Workers’ Compensation Board appellate division decision involving a woman who was injured while working for Cooke Aquaculture’s salmon operation off the coast of Eastport.

Maria Rauch-Kallat has been re-elected President of the Austrian Paralympic Committee (ÖPC) following a General Assembly that also saw new Board members elected.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the General Assembly was held virtually and utilised online voting.
Although some members met at ÖPC headquarters for the meeting, most participated remotly.
Rauch-Kallat, who has been the head of the ÖPC since 2009, was unanimously re-elected as ÖPC President, making it her fourth term in office. I thank you for your trust and will continue my work with a lot of heart and passion, Rauch-Kallat said following re-election.
