MEXICO â The Mexico Academy and Central School District (MACS) has once again been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.
It is the ninth year in a row MACS has been honored with this national distinction and is one of just 686 districts in the nation that earned this honor.
âWe are so incredibly proud of our music program,â said MACS Superintendent Dr. Donna Runner. âWhen you think of Mexico schools, one of the first things that comes to mind is its rich and deeply rooted musical traditions. I applaud our music educators throughout the district and thank the community for all their support of the arts.â

For the ninth year in a row, the NAMM Foundation has recognized the Fredonia Central School District for its outstanding commitment to music education with a “Best Communities for Music Education” designation. Only 4% of the nation’s school districts were honored with this designation.
Now in its 22nd year, this award recognizes school districts that have demonstrated exceptional efforts toward maintaining music education as part of their schools’ curriculum. This designation is meant to highlight the importance of supporting and expanding music education opportunities in our nation’s schools and acknowledging music’s vital role in student success.

SHENANDOAH, Pa. If there s one thing any musician knows how to do, it s change change keys, change tempos, change dynamics. But no sheet music can prepare you for the changes that accompany a pandemic.
Still, band director John Shoener says his students at Shenandoah Valley High School gave their best performance. I would say our students have been great throughout this whole process. It s certainly something that I never thought that we d have to go through, Shoener said.
