Chandigarh, April 23 : The Chandigarh administration on Friday decided to cancel the weekend lockdown this time, besides deciding not to go for a weeklong shutdown to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
The decisions in this regard, among others, were taken at a meeting chaired by UT Administrator V.P. Singh Badnore.
At the meeting, it was informed that Chandigarh has 4,273 active cases, while nearby Panchkula and Mohali towns have 2,493 and 7,171 active cases, respectively.
Reviewing the status of availability of oxygen in all the medical institutions in the city, Badnore expressed satisfaction that with the commissioning of a plant, there is no shortage of oxygen in the UT present.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has made it clear that there should not be any scope for corruption in the comprehensive resurvey of lands, and has asked the officials to ensure that the land owners are not put to any inconvenience.
During a review meeting held on Thursday on the ‘YSR Jagananna Permanent Land Right and Resurvey of Lands and Resettlement’, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that a Sub Registrar Office should be set up at every village and a review meeting held every week.

J&K official overstays for 25 years at JKPDC in violation of transfer policy
Jammu Tawi, April 12: Continuing its efforts towards making the process of Registration more convenient and transparent, the Revenue Department has done away with the waiting period for scheduling of an appointment in any office of any of the 87 Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) in Jammu and Kashmir.
It said that any citizen desirous of registering any document, can book a slot for the same day with no waiting period while ensuring that citizens can schedule slots as per their convenience.
It is pertinent to mention that the Revenue Department in consultation with Inspector General of Registrations and Software Development Unit, NIC Pune, making necessary arrangements in NGDRS Software has increased the number of registration slots from 25 to 42 per day for each Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) with effect from 6th of April 2021with provision for rescheduling interface to the SROs.

KARACHI: Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Thursday expressed anger at the Karachi Commissioner over the abysmal condition of the city s encroachments, saying that we are going to remove the Karachi Commissioner .
The apex court was hearing a case related to operations against encroachments in various parts of the city when it questioned the commissioner s performance.
Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed was presiding over the hearing at the Karachi Registry of the Supreme Court. The Karachi Commissioner and other senior officials were present for the court hearing.
