KARACHI: Angered at the city s encroachments and lack of development, the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday said it will remove Karachi Commissioner.
The apex court was hearing a case related to operations against encroachments in various parts of the city when it questioned the commissioner s performance.

Revenue Dept notifies substantial increase in Registration slots
JAMMU Tawi, APRIL 5: As a step forward towards making the process of registrations more convenient and people friendly, the Revenue Department in consultation with Inspector General of Registrations and Software Development Unit, NIC Pune, making necessary arrangements in NGDRS Software has increased the number of registration slots from 25 to 42 per day for each Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) with effect from 6th of April 2021.
According to a public notice issued by Revenue Department here today in this regard, the software has been tailored to enable the SROs re-schedule the registration slots of the desirous citizens.

The Tiruppur City Police on Friday arrested another accused for his alleged involvement in the case related to committing forgery and misappropriating funds to the tune of nearly ₹ 69 lakh in the Registration Department.
A statement from the police said that R. Prakash was employed as an assistant in a private typing office in Tiruppur. He was the college-mate of R. Shankar, a former Assistant at Sub-Registrar Office (Joint-I) who was arrested in January. Shankar and an assistant at the Thottipalayam Sub-Registrar Office Panneerselvam allegedly gave the idea to Prakash on the possibilities of irregularities in the e-payment receipts used during document registration to misappropriate money.

Nod awaited for rolling out system
The Registration Department has successfully completed a pilot project for automatic patta name transfer, and is awaiting the green signal to adopt the system throughout Tamil Nadu in phases. It is waiting for a date from Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to launch the service in the 21 districts where it was tested.
A senior official of the Department said the project was initiated following a similar experiment in Perambalur district, where land documents since 1865 had been digitised.
