Photo: A quantity of marijuana was seized by police officers during a joint exercise on January 7, 2021. One man is in police custody for assaulting a police officer and using obscene language following an operation which led to the seizure of 488 grammes of marijuana. The legal limit is 30 grammes per person. The drugs were seized during a joint exercise by officers of the North Eastern Division and the Western Division. The operation, which took place under the supervision of Snr Supt. Maharaj, Supt Alexander, A.S.P Pariman, and Insp. Bharath, took place between 2.30 pm and 7pm on Thursday. It saw officers visit several areas, including an open lot near a police station, where drugs were found.
