Supreme Court Bar Association President Dushyant Dave resigned from his post on Thursday, stating that he had “forfeited [the] right” to continue in the position,
Live Law reported.
In his resignation letter, Dave noted that the tenure of the executive committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association had already come to an end, but it was not possible to hold elections for the new body “due to reservations” by some of the members.
“I understand their [members’] position and have no quarrel with it but to me any further continuation as the President in these circumstances will be morally wrong,” Dave wrote, according to
Architect suicide case: Arnab gets more time to amend petition
MUMBAI : The Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted further time to Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami to amend his petition and place on record the charge sheet filed against him and two others in a 2018 case of abetment of suicide of an interior designer.
Goswami and the two other accused Feroze Shaikh and Nitish Sarda will have to appear before a magistrate court at Alibaug in neighbouring Raigad district of Maharashtra on Thursday, pursuant to summons issued to them in December 2020.
On December 16, 2020, the magistrate’s court took cognisance of the charge sheet filed by Alibaug police in the case and directed the three accused to appear before it on January 7 to commit the case to a sessions court.

Jewellery worth Rs 48 lakh seized from BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta s locker

The Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the city crime branch investigating the Television Rating Points (TRP) scam has seized jewellery worth Rs 48 lakh from the bank locker of former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) CEO Partho Dasgupta, who was earlier arrested in the case. The police claimed that the said jewellery had been procured from the money he had received for TRP manipulations.
In Wednesday s remand application, Mumbai police reiterated that Dasgupta allegedly received kickbacks in lakhs from Republic TV s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami for helping his channel gain top ranking. Police checked a joint bank locker belonging to him and his wife after Dasgupta, in his voluntary statement to the police, said he had kept the said jewellery in the locker. According to the police, they have seized gold and silver jewellery weighing around 1.3 kg worth Rs 48 lakh from the locker.
