Protests Against âBlasphemousâ Remark By Dasna Priest Crosses Border, Bangladesh Group Warns âHindusâ Of Mass Deaths
Stills from a video from Bangladesh
Swarajya has been reporting on heated protests and provocative slogans raised across India against a âblasphemousâ statement by a person from Uttar Pradeshâs Ghaziabad district in February.
The person, Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, is a self-styled Hindutva activist and priest of a private temple in Ghaziabadâs Dasna area. At a gathering in New Delhiâs Press Club, he criticised Prophet Mohammed.
(Swarajya is not reproducing the content of his statement as even quoting âblasphemousâ content against Prophet Mohammed has resulted in murders in the recent past.)

Such events have been largely ignored by big media.
Three days ago, a large crowd gathered at the famous Ajmer Sharif Dargah in protest of âblasphemyâ. The
dargah, where lies the grave of Persian âSufiâ Muslim preacher Khwaja Moinuddin Chisty, had been declared closed until 30 April a few days earlier.
At a time when state governments are struggling to control crowds, the
dargah management called the crowd to save the honour of their Prophet, in their own words.
Social Distancing - Then, Now And Back Again? Reviving the ancient Art, not modern Science, of building boundaries
As if humanity is not completely overwhelmed by this term, a different though familiar practice of “Social Distancing” is currently being revisited by the faithful.
When the WHO prescribes social distancing, it refers to the practice of maintaining a greater than usual physical distance between people, in order to avoid infection during a pandemic.
In a reinterpretation with a logic of its own, recent trends seem to favour a falling back to the tried and tested practice of distancing: separation from neighbours and communities of social, religious or racial groups that are not classified as the “majority.”
