Lakeway Police Chief Todd Radford submitted his resignation Friday afternoon effective June 7. Radford has been with the department since February 2007, according to city spokesperson Jarrod Wise. The city of Lakeway will immediately begin a search to find a suitable replacement who will stay focused on the primary mission of our police department – to keep our community safe, and pursue the department’s vision to remain dedicated to unsurpassed safety and service, city officials said Friday evening in a statement.
Wise said Friday that the city is not able to offer any additional information at this time since it is a personnel matter.
The Lakeway City Council voted Monday night to extend the winter storm disaster declaration, which will help those applying for financial relief do so more easily, Mayor Sandy Cox said.
Cox called the storm “probably the worst disaster this area has ever experienced in its history” and thanked city staff, first responders and the community for helping the area pull through the crisis.
Cox said the city did not initially declare a disaster because the state and county declarations covered the area. However, Cox did sign a declaration on Feb. 26 to help local business owners and homeowners apply for aid related to the storm. Now that the order has been extended, it will be up to the mayor to rescind it, which Cox said she would do when the state disaster declaration ends.
