Four-time premiership Hawk Jordan Lewis is struggling to find any positives out of Hawthornâs last fortnight of football.
The club was smashed by St Kilda last weekend before suffering a 38-point loss on the MCG to a seriously undermanned West Coast.
It was a tough game to watch, with neither team kicking a goal in the first quarter before the Eagles took control of the match.
âYou come here as a Hawthorn supporter and you look at where they sit on the ladder and you try to look at where the future is,â Lewis told

Subscriber only Alastair Clarkson has been many things across 376 games and 16 seasons, but he has never been boring. Not while he was punching MCG coaches box walls. Or running half-naked around Manuka Oval before the snow fell. Or threatening all manner of deeds as he advised Matthew Lloyd to retire past-match in 2009. Or being saved from a VFL coaching stint by Sam Mitchell s tackle on Shane Tuck. For the first time in forever, Clarkson is coaching a nondescript, vanilla, utterly boring football team. He knows it, and so do the fans. Â

Let’s just pretend your club has the salary cap space and there is no consequence to offering a multi-year mega deal.
We have taken length of current contract into account when making these assessments.
See who we think your club should hand a lengthy contract to below.
Tom Doedee
There are no clear standout candidates at the Crows so Tom Doedee gets the nod.
The intercept defender position has become increasingly important in recent times and Doedee is building his craft nicely in the role.

The Kangaroos did not take very long in this season to get seared on all sides and have their raw insides exposed, while the smoke still hasn’t cleared from the roasting that the Pies got from flying too close to the Suns.
Markets will start to get interesting for wooden spoon favouritism as the two worst teams face off in Round 8 after just a third of the season, but both are cooked for season 2021.
