It’s probably no coincidence that a version of “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” the Fulton Theatre’s big stage musical for the holidays in late 2021, celebrates transformation and diversity.
After more than a year without in-person performances. Circuit Playhouse, Inc., the organization that includes The Circuit Playhouse, TheatreWorks @ the Square, and Playhouse on the Square has announced the return to in-person live professional theatre for its 53rd season. Beginning in July with a world premiere and winner of the company s national playwriting competition. The season will end in the summer 0f 2022 with a Playhouse revival and regional favorite. Subscriptions for the 53rd season are available for purchase at https://tickets.playhouseonthesquare.org and by calling the box office, (901) 726-4656. As a thank you for the support of their patrons throughout the pandemic, Playhouse on the Square is honoring the subscriptions that were purchased for the 2020-2021 season and were not used.

In 1929, Link Wray, one of the more influential rock guitarists of the 50s, was born in Fort Bragg, N.C. He introduced the distorted fuzz-tone guitar sound on his 1958 single Rumble. His playing was a tremendous influence on such British rock stars as Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend and John Lennon. He died on Nov. 5, 2005.
In 1936, Peter and the Wolf, a symphonic tale for children by Sergei Prokofiev, had its world premiere in Moscow.
Orville Peck and Trixie Mattel clearly had plenty of fun making their new duet, a cover of the classic song Jackson. The chemistry radiates out of them throughout the song, released on Friday (April 30), and its accompanying music video.
