Movie Review: Coming 2 America an OK sequel to a comedy classic
“Coming 2 America” is a fairly entertaining sequel to the 1988 comedy classic,“Coming to America.”
When it s working, the film is funny and sweet, but it lacks consistency and focus. At times, the situations feel forced and played out.
While the original certainly was not a perfect movie, there are several inspired and iconic scenes and quotes that are still part of pop culture today. “Coming 2 America” lacks those moments but has a decent amount of scenes that get the laughs.
While Eddie Murphy is the star, his performance is a bit understated and gets lost in the shuffle at times. To me, the supporting players are this film s strength, as well as a few well-done musical numbers.
