Photo courtesy of Impossible Foods May 4 (UPI) A federal appeals court has ruled Impossible Foods can use heme, a color additive, which the company says makes its plant-based burgers taste like meat. The court in San Francisco upheld Monday the U.S. Food and Drug Administration s decision to approve soy leghemoglobin as a color additive in Impossible Foods plant-based burgers, Bloomberg reported. Advertisement Impossible Foods has marketed the genetically engineered soy protein as containing heme, an iron-containing molecule that helps its plants-based burgers taste like meat, by filling craving for iron.

April 29, 2021 By Jon King / jking@whmi.com The woman who leads local Democrats is calling a vote earlier this week by the all-Republican County Board of Commissioners, “a small, petty decision” when they declined to appoint a Democrat to the bipartisan county jury commission, and instead left the position vacant. Judy Daubenmier, who chairs the Livingston County Democratic Party, issued a press release (posted below) following Monday’s meeting of the county board in which they approved incumbent Nancy Sauvage, a Democrat, and former commissioner Bill Green, a Republican, to the county jury commission, omitting the name of Democrat Dane Morris, despite the fact that all three had been nominated to the panel by Chief Judge Michael Hatty.
