Saybrook Township murder case to go to trial in February

John Raymond Rose John Raymond Rose’s case will continue to trial, scheduled for February, after a plea deadline hearing on Tuesday did not resolve the case, said County Prosecutor Cecilia Cooper.  “It was a pretty straightforward hearing,” Cooper said. Rose was indicted in late June on one count of aggravated murder and two counts of murder, unclassified felonies, and one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, according to court records. Rose is accused of murdering Paul Ruffo in Saybrook Township on June 2. Ruffo died from a single stab wound, according to the Coroner’s office.  A jury trial is currently scheduled for Feb. 2 in this case, according to court records. Whether or not that trial date sticks depends on the number of COVID-19 cases between now and then, Cooper said.
