Heritage-Patrimoine Cornwall(HPC) advises the city concerning all heritage properties. The committee is under the umbrella of Community Heritage Ontario and has the mandate to suggest municipalities consider designating heritage or historically significant properties or artifacts.
We currently have 19 designated properties. Each designation process is different, but there is a historical narrative and reasons for designation, and the committee is responsible for the wording and facts in the designation document.
When an owner of a designated property wishes to carry out any renovations and apply for a work permit, there is an immediate flag and HPC is notified.
