Sodhi sacrificed his life while performing professional duties during an encounter in 2008 at Kaili Mandi in Samba. Ashok Sodhi-was a photojournalist with Daily Excelsior. Excelsior Management and staff also held meeting to pay tributes to Ashok Sodhi, who laid down his life while covering the encounter at Samba this day in 2008.
