ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Presiding officer for Senate Chairman to elect the chairman and deputy chairman Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah on Friday said that it seems that the supporters of the opposition have maliciously wasted seven votes.
Speaking exclusively with Dunya News after Senate election, he made it clear that according to the law, the place in front of the candidate has to be stamped.
“Instead of the box, the stamp has actually been affixed on the name of Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, and they are rejected,” said Shah.

ISLAMABAD: The requisition of the National Assembly session on Saturday (today) by President Dr Arif Alvi under Article 91(7) of the Constitution requiring Prime Minister Imran Khan to get a vote of confidence has generated a heated debate among the constitutional experts.
Commenting on the development, eminent lawyer and PPP Senator Raza Rabbani told The News that when the president asks the prime minister to go for a confidence vote, he summons the National Assembly on his own and does not do so on the premier’s advice as has been done now.
In the present case, Rabbani said, the prime minister sent the advice to the president to call the National Assembly session for the purpose, which runs counter to the Constitution.
Imran Khan Wins Rare Confidence Vote, Retains The Hot Seat
SRINAGAR: Days after the ambitious ceasefire with India, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan won a voluntary confidence motion in the Pakistan parliament. It indicates a strong possibility of the continuation of the renewed bilateralism between India and Pakistan.
The voluntary confidence motion moved by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party was the outcome of Khan’s finance minister, Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, failing to get re-elected as Yousuf Raza Gillani, the joint opposition candidate defeated him early this week. He lost the senate re-election by five votes indicating that Khan’s PTI lacks the support of his own party in the parliament. Apparently pre-empting the possibility of a no-confidence vote, Khan voluntarily moved the motion in a special session that he eventually won.
