Getting into the auditorium for Flight involves a laborious, airport-style transit from one holding area to another before arrival at our self-contained âboothsâ. An immersive experience based on the plight of refugee children that was first staged in 2017, this installation might have been conceived for our socially distanced times. As pandemic friendly as it is, the offer of a solitary experience inside a theatre may seem counterintuitive after waiting for the communality of the auditorium to return.
It is a relief, then, that this show â created by Vox Motus and co-presented by the Bridge theatre and the Barbican â is worth buckling in for. It consists of a revolving diorama containing miniature models in lit-up boxes and an accompanying soundtrack on headphones.
M6 Theatre presents The Storm
Like many theatre companies across the country, M6 had to cancel their tours in March 2020. But that hasn’t stopped the Rochdale-based organisation from creating work for children and young people all across the UK.
One of the affected shows, The Storm, has now been filmed and, alongside a comprehensive education package, is being offered free of charge to all secondary school pupils across Rochdale, in partnership with Rochdale Borough Council Education Service.
This film and teaching resource raises awareness of the climate emergency and is available for all 12,000 KS3 and 4 high school pupils across the district.

The Greatest Play in the History of the World… will embark on a brand new tour in January 2021.
The piece, which initially ran at the Traverse Theatre, is written by Hesmondhalgh s writer husband Ian Kershaw with direction by Raz Shaw. Hesmondhalgh was awarded The Stage Edinburgh Award for her performance when the piece first opened.
It will be presented in a socially distanced fashion at the Hull Truck Theatre from 29 January to 6 February, Chester Storyhouse from 10 to 14 February, York Theatre Royal from 16 to 20 February, Liverpool Playhouse from 23 to 27 February, Nottingham Playhouse from 1 to 4 March, Stephen Joseph Theatre Scarborough from 9 to 13 March and Theatre By the Lake, 16 to 20 March.
