Launch attempt #6 was scrubbed to provide time for inspection of the rocket
May 13, 2021
CHARLOTTE, N.C. Wednesday night ended in yet another scrubbed launch and attempt #6 for NASA’s suborbital rocket launch. The previous scheduled launches were either scrubbed due to upper-level winds not being within the required limits for a safe launch or due to cloud cover in Bermuda – this time was for a different reason. NASA Wallops states “The Black Brant XII launch scheduled for May 12 has been postponed to provide time for inspection of the rocket after the vehicle came in contact with a launcher support during today’s preparations.”
NASA rocket launch at Wallops Flight Facility postponed from today to Saturday
Updated 11:09 AM;
If you were planning to look up in the sky tonight to catch a glimpse of the NASA rocket that is scheduled to be launched from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, you’ll have to wait again at least one more day.
After six delays during the past week most of which were related to unfavorable weather conditions like cloudy skies or upper-level winds NASA has decided to postpone Friday night’s scheduled launch as they assess the rocket for potential damage.
As of now, NASA is hoping to get its Black Brant XII rocket off the launching pad no earlier than 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, May 15.

Over the last week, night after night, NASA has cancelled a potential rocket launch from Virginia that we would see here in Upstate New York. The next launch window is coming up on Friday, May 14.
NASA is set to launch a “Black Brant XII sounding rocket” from their Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia Friday, May 14 at 8:02PM. If Mother Nature plays nice for us, the launch should be visible all across the eastern seaboard.
If you are hoping to catch a glimpse of the rocket on Friday evening, it should be visible to our southeast between 30-60 seconds after launch (assuming the launch goes off on time at 8:02 p.m).
