Cargill Announces Construction of Canola Crushing Plant in Regina Will Begin in Early 2022

Bernie McLean commented on news that Cargill is going to build a 350-million dollar canola crushing plant in Regina. “It actually bodes really well for getting us a step closer to the Canola Council of Canada’s goal of 14-million metric tonnes of crushed capacity in Canada by 2025. I think currently we’re around 10-million metric tonnes.” McLean said. The Cargill plant in Regina will have an annual crush capacity of one million metric tonnes when it opens in 2024. Construction on the plant will begin early next year.

Canada: Cargill to add 1m MT of extra canola crush capacity

Cargill has announced plans to build a new canola processing facility in Saskatchewan, Canada, to support the growing global demand for canola products. The new facility, to be located in Regina, will have an annual production capacity of one million metric tons (MT) when online. The agribusiness giant said it expects to begin construction on the crushing plant early next year. The build is set to cost US$350m. The facility, which will be similar in design to Cargill’s existing Camrose, Alberta plant, is set to be operational in early 2024. A spokesperson for Cargill told us end users of the canola products from this plant will be feed, food and fuel customers.
