Katarina Waters made her mark in WWE through the rings of Ohio Valley Wrestling before making it to the main roster as Katie Lea Burchill. There she was paired with an onscreen pirate brother Paul Burchill. Waters, who is featured in the documentary
The Other Side of the Ring, moved from England to the United States and Louisville for OVW, the company’s developmental territory.
“When I was in OVW, that was the complete focus. It was everyday training and then shows and in between thinking about storylines,” she said. “Al Snow, our trainer, would come up and say I have a great idea for a storyline, let’s do that. He would take the time to sit down with us and mold it into the best version of the story as you can get unless it was a horrible idea where he would suggest something else. Having that constant focus of working on something and toward something. Also, trusting your talents.”
Katarina Waters is set to appear in the new wrestling documentary
The Other Side of the Ring, and recently discussed her appearance as well as her wrestling future. The former Katie Lea Burchill and Winter spoke with Wrestling Inc promoting the documentary which looks at four women in the industry in Waters, Shelly Martinez, Delilah Doom and Keta Meggett. It is set to release on May 20th on digital platforms, and we’ll have a review of it up soon. You can see some highlights from the interview below:
On the
Other Side of the Ring documentary: “To be honest, I haven’t watched all of it now because I have resistance watching myself. It takes me a while to overcome my fear and worry about saying something stupid. For me, the interesting part is I know the other women, but to get a deeper understanding of wrestling and their backgrounds and what their path was like is really interesting.”
