Congress Keeping Busy with Cabinet Confirmations and New Reform Bills

WFXB March 11, 2021 Both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives are juggling numerous pressing issues at the moment. Yesterday, the Senate got to work confirming not one, but two of President Biden’s Cabinet picks. To start, Ohio Representative Marcia Fudge was named head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. North Carolina regulator Michael Regan also became the first Black man to take charge of the Environmental Protection Agency. He will be tasked with assisting President Biden in his efforts to address climate change and advocate for environmental justice. The House is currently contending with several new reform bills. This includes the passage of the PRO Act which protects worker’s right to unionize. They’re also working on the re-introduction of the Violence Against Women Act. We now know they’re debating several other pieces of legislation promoting better infrastructure, making healthcare more affordable, addressing issues with immigration.

‘What’s happening is white privilege’: Kid-glove treatment of pro-Trump mob stirs anger By Victoria McGrane Globe Staff,Updated January 7, 2021, 5:03 p.m. Email to a Friend The contrast was stark. Last summer, a diverse group of largely peaceful protesters for racial justice were met with tear gas, military tactics, and legions of police in riot gear. But when armed and violent — and mostly white — insurrectionists stormed the Capitol on Wednesday, an anemic law enforcement operation was comparatively gentle, even polite. Tribal leaders and activists around the country, along with many Democratic figures, cheered Haaland s selection after urging Biden for weeks to choose her to lead the Department of Interior. They stood behind her candidacy even when concerns that Democrats might risk their majority in the House of Representatives if Haaland yielded her seat in Congress appeared to threaten her nomination.

After Biden Rejects Him For a Cabinet Position, Garcetti Says He Will Focus on L A

The rampant homelessness in Los Angeles is not just an open sore, but an infected, oozing one that Garcetti has been claiming he would solve since he was a city council member. That’s 19 years of promises made… and ignored. Sure, Jan. Instead, he has majored in being the Democrat Party’s climber rather than the Mayor of Los Angeles. He spent 8 years sucking up to then-President Barack Obama about transportation funds, with forays into “discussions” about homelessness, while taking every other chance to campaign for Hillary Clinton in 2016, and then to become a surrogate for the Biden campaign in 2020, all with his sights on D.C.
