Both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives are juggling numerous pressing issues at the moment. Yesterday, the Senate got to work confirming not one, but two of President Biden’s Cabinet picks. To start, Ohio Representative Marcia Fudge was named head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. North Carolina regulator Michael Regan also became the first Black man to take charge of the Environmental Protection Agency. He will be tasked with assisting President Biden in his efforts to address climate change and advocate for environmental justice. The House is currently contending with several new reform bills. This includes the passage of the PRO Act which protects worker’s right to unionize. They’re also working on the re-introduction of the Violence Against Women Act. We now know they’re debating several other pieces of legislation promoting better infrastructure, making healthcare more affordable, addressing issues with immigration.
