COVID-19 cases are trending upward, and Nebraska infectious disease experts point to the Delta variant as the lead suspect in the state.
This comes just a month after pandemic had reached all-time lows in the state. The 7-day average for cases stood in the high 20s as did hospitalizations, but now cases caused by the Delta variant are reversing the trends. COVID cases are up 42% in the past week in Nebraska, according to CDC data. From just over one month ago, cases are up 440%.
“Essentially, the vast majority of our cases now that we’re seeing – positive cases – are due to the Delta variant, and it really has come in and just taken over from what we were seeing with other variants previously, said Dr. Angela Hewlett, the Medical Director of the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Rosa María Wong , specialist at the Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory of the UNAM Faculty of Medicine.
The doctor commented to it is recommended not to take in 72 hours, which is the period in which immunizations cause some side effect and alcohol can enhance them . However, the scientific community extends this period to 21 days or three weeks after its application.
