THE Democratic Alliance is taking advantage of the level 1 lockdown by going to the masses before the impending third wave of coronavirus hits Mzansi.
“The third wave is a big worry, we are the least vaccinated country in the world, we are 33rd in Africa and countries like Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe are far ahead, so a third wave is a concern in South Africa,” said DA leader John Steenhuisen.
On Tuesday, Steenhuisen visited the troubled kasi of Eldorado Park in the south of Joburg for their election campaign ahead of the by-elections, which will be taking place next week.
The party once led the City under former mayor, Herman Mashaba.
Steenhuisen addressed the media on Tuesday while campaigning for the next week s by-election in Eldorado Park, near Soweto.

Over Two Thousand Eid Shoe Boxes Distributed to Madrassahs in Various Communities in SA to Mark the End of Ramadan

Humanitarian organisation Muslim Women of Wonder Foundation has distributed over two thousand Eid Shoe Boxes to Madrassah’s in Ennerdale, Eldorado Park, Lenasia South, Noordgesig and Newclare among other areas.
The initiative forms part of the organisations gifts to mark the end of the blessed month of Ramadan.
Other organisations involved in the project include, Miny Miracles and Islamic Helpline.
The Eid Shoe Boxes contains toiletries, stationery, sweet packs and winter warmers.
Muslim Women of Wonder Foundation’s Faheema Patel says we all need to play our part to ensure that the needy are taken care off, especially the children who also fasted during the holy month of Ramadan.
Nafiz Modack supporters call for his release, believe he is a man for the people

Cape Town - Supporters stood firm outside the Bishop Lavis Magistrateâs Court on Monday, calling for the release of alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack.
A group of supporters wearing masks which read âModack Groupâ carried placards calling for his release. They claim that Modackâs arrest is a plot against him for all the good he does.
Modack appeared alongside Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) member Sergeant Ashley Tabisher on corruption charges on Monday.
Modack is separately charged with conspiracy to commit murder after a hand grenade was thrown at the Bishop Lavis home of former Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear months before his assassination last year.
Natural gas leak prompts closures and evacuations in Frisco

FRISCO, Texas - Several roads in Frisco were shut down and homes were evacuated Friday because of a natural gas leak.
Officials said construction crews working in the area near FM 423 and Eldorado Parkway accidentally cut a 6-inch gas line around 9 a.m.
Frisco firefighters, a hazmat crew and utility workers got to the scene pretty quickly but they are still working to shut off the gas line.
It may take them all afternoon to shut off the line, officials said.
Residents who live in the Grayhawk subdivision are being asked to evacuate as a precaution. The homes affected are between Eldorado Parkway, Swan Lake Drive, Cardinal Creek Drive and Daimler Drive.
