houses in Victoria and Western Australia. With the WA elections due on Saturday
week, I now go west for the sixth time since I started writing for
Switzer

The three glaring defects of the way in which the WA
Legislative Council is elected relate to three words/sets of words. They are
“malapportionment”, “district magnitude” and “ballot paper format”. The first
word refers to having greatly different numbers of electors for each
representative. In psephological jargon “district magnitude” simply means the
WA canât go back to âbusiness as usualâ on Aboriginal heritage: Dodson

Changes to Western Australiaâs Aboriginal heritage laws need to proceed as soon as possible after next monthâs state election, politicians and activists say, after the disruption of another heritage site in the Pilbara raised concerns.
WAtoday revealed on Tuesday that a registered Aboriginal heritage site had been damaged at BHPâs Mining Area C project in the Pilbara in late January.
BHP said the cause of the rock fall is not known.

A preference deal with the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party will likely help the minor party more than WA Labor, a leading political academic says.
University of Notre Dame political analyst Martin Drum said the deal had similarities to an agreement the Colin Barnett-led Liberals struck with One Nation ahead of the 2017 state election, which had no benefit for the Liberals but ended up helping One Nation secure three seats in the upper house.
