Virginia Wells Horton

Friday, April 30, 2021 9:59 am Virginia Wells Horton, 78, of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was born on June 16, 1942, in Gulfport, Miss., to the Rev. Odel and Mabel Wells. She married Johnathan David Horton on July 11, 1964, in Plattsburgh, Miss. She and David enjoyed 42 rich, adventurous years together in a marriage full of love and laughter until David went home to be with the Lord in May 2006. She was a gifted vocalist, yet wanted to be a mathematician. Upon the advice of her older brother Gerald, she abandoned her studies in math to pursue music education. She earned a bachelor of music education at the University of Southern Mississippi, and a master of music education from the George Peabody School for Teachers in Nashville.

James Lee Burt Jr

Saturday, December 26, 2020 8:06 pm James Lee Burt Jr., 80 of Cleveland passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, in a local hospital. He was the son of the late James L. and Mary F. Burt. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly. Jim retired from Westvaco with several years of service. He attended Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. The last few years he attended several different churches wanting to hear the word of God. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He loved to travel, fishing, boating and hunting with his metal detector. He also loved to garden and study the Bible.

Herbert L Cannon

Saturday, December 12, 2020 8:17 pm Herbert L. Buddy Cannon of Georgetown, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at home with his loving family by his side.   Born May 11, 1935, to James and Erma Duke Cannon of Hickman County. Buddy served our country in the Air Force and Army during the Korean War.   He was a faithful member of The Church Of God Prophecy pastoring local churches at Spring Place and Durkee Road. He pastored  Church of God Prophecy churches for over 40 years and later in life pastoring and serving as general overseer for The Church of God. He had a great love for the church and especially the youth work. He worked many years in the youth camp. He also worked as a juvenile officer for Bradley County.
