The Nigerian military has repelled the Boko Haram attack on Damasak town after over 12 hours of takeover by Boko Haram insurgents.
This was confirmed by the Chairman of Mobbar Local Government Area, Mustapha Kolo , at the Government House in Maiduguri on Thursday.
According to the chairman, the insurgents operated in Damasak town from 5pm on Tuesday till around 3pm on Wednesday, burning down structures and dislodging the army base, leading to the residents fleeing in their thousand to neighboring Niger republic.
“But normalcy has returned to Damasak. Some residents fled but they arenot many,” he added.
