Abia billionaire, Prof Gregory Ibe has faulted the Central Bank of Nigeria claim that the Igbos have been reluctant to secure loan facilities from the financial institution, alleging that the apex bank is being economical with the truth.
Reacting to a recent allegation by the CBN that unlike other zones, residents of the south east have not been forthcoming in accessing financial interventions promoted by the bank, Prof Ibe contended that the assertion, which has no basis, is in fact an unwarranted attempt at blaming a victimized region of the country for its predicament.
CBN Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Osita Nwanusiobi, who spoke at a fair organized for farmers and bank officials in Enugu, said that the bank had done well with her intervention programmes in the agricultural sector but lamented that the South-East zone of the country was not capitalizing on such interventions as it should.
