Yellow Jackets drop ASC opener at home to Sul Ross, 88-63

[Photo by Derrick Stuckly]Trailing by 16 points at halftime in their American Southwest Conference opener, the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets tallied the first seven points of the second half, but the Sul Ross Lobos dominated the rest of the way for an 88-63 victory Saturday at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Down 45-29 at the break, Howard Payne (0-5, 0-1) started the second half with five quick points by Jacob Smith and a bucket from Brad Erskin to close the gap to nine points, 45-36, just 1:41 after intermission.
