JOHN DAY — Senator Ron Wyden stopped by the Grant County Airport on Monday, March 25 for the 1080th town hall he’s held since being elected to office, bringing a message of unity and bipartisan cooperation while fielding questions and listening to concerns from Grant County residents.
Wyden highlighted his record of a willingness to cross party lines to get things done. Wyden, a Democrat spoke about his work with the late Republican Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah on Telehealth provisions that were ultimately used by the Trump Administration during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wyden then talked about his work creating a tax bill with Jason Smith, a Republican House representative from Missouri who is also a member of the Ways and Means Committee. That work resulted in the Tax Relief For American Families and Workers Act; a bipartisan tax structure that proposes a combination of individual tax proposals both the political left and right have typically championed.
