No issues on 95 traveling from laurel toward the capital beltway so no issue there is this morning. Thats one of the biggest questions we hope to have answered today in a hearing on capitol hill. The hearing will focus on the safety issues on board metro that stem from the smokefilled incident back in january when dozens of people were hurt and one woman died. In previous hearings we heard from engineers and other Metro Official abouts what went wrong that day when smoke filled the train and the operator says he had to wait to clear the tunnel. That operator james curly expressed his frustrations with metro saying that day he was repeatedly told by control to wait. He said people on board were coughing and vomiting. He had to wait about half an hour till they could be rescued which we now know was unfortunately too late for one woman. Its clear that that incident exposed major problems on metro and investigators said a lack of overall safety in metros culture. Also today, a subcommittee will focus on the financial situation at metro. Live at Lenfant Plaza metro station, im Nikki Burdine, wusa9. A woman is in jail this morning accused of stabbing four women, one of them a young girl inside a d. C. Apartment. It happened last night in the 500 block of 50th place northeast. One victim was seriously hurt but some good news to report this morning, all four victims are expected to be okay. The suspects name has not been released at this point and so far no word on a motive. Also this morning, Prince Georges County police are asking for your help solving a homicide in oxon hill. It happened on maury avenue last night. Police say they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting happened in an area of a mix of Single Family and town homes. The name of the victim has not been released. Reporter we have new developments on the case against Baltimore Police officers accused in the death of 25yearold freddie gray and new police radio calls show how e thcity spiraled out of control when a riot broke out in april. States attorney Marilyn Mosby wanted to make it all private or expose to the public. [indiscernible] that would impact the ability to conduct a fair time. The judge said the defense hasnt made any evidence public and denied mosbys request but also we are getting to hear some police radio calls from aims riot. They paint a startling from aprils riot. They paint a startling picture of what officers faced. Do not move forward and do not chase them. Theres a couple hundred people. A judge has found probable cause that a man charged in the deaths of a wealthy washington family murder and ordered him held without bond pending further court proceedings. Judge Rhonda Reed Winston made her decision yesterday based on evidence linking daron wind to the slayings of savvas savopoulos, his wife, amy, their son philip and their housekeeper veralicia figueroa. The house had been set on fire. Allegations of racial bias now may have the future of georgetown universitys track program in question. The school says its now investigating both racial bias and misconduct allegations based on complaints filed by an athlete. The investigation started months ago. A female at threat posted her story athlete posted her story of alleged sexual harassment. Since then even more allegations have been shared on social media. Its really a bunch of bull crap that georgetown is going to hide it from everyone until theyre storessed to deal with it forced to deal with it. It should be smooth sailing this morning for marc train riders on the brunswick line. This one day after a crash around forest glen. A dump truck and the marc train collided during yesterday evenings rush hour. The special csx maintenance truck was on the tracks when the commuter train hit it. Two people were hurt but both should be okay. Stranded passengers waited hours for any relief. Authorities in Montgomery County are also investigating a fire and problem explosion at the National Institutes of standards and technology. County police say a federal Law Enforcement officer assigned to its security detail at the facility was injured sunday night. Police also say they recovered possible controlled dangerous substances at the scene that could be used for drug making. Those substances have been sent off for further testing. A Silver Spring man is facing charges for sexually assaulting a woman while he impersonated a Police Officer. The alleged Victim Told Police she and Nicklaus Morales morcedo hit online. She said he arrived, showed her a badge and then claimed he was a cop. Then he allegedly handcuffed the woman and assaulted her. They used d. N. A. Evidence to make the arose. Police radio calls from aprils riot in baltimore show a police force struggling to regain involve the city. Its also clear officers had trouble protecting themselves and they were frustrated over not having the resources and direction they needed. Police were nearly stretched to their breaking point and could not respond to emergency calls in other parts of the city. The fop says orders from the top were that officers shouldnt look intimidating so she wouldnt escalate the swaying. More than 150 officers were hurt during the riot and the Police Union Says in some cases officers had to buy their own safety gear. The situation got that an armored unit was sent to pennsylvania and north to rescue officers that were trapped. We have an officer down at the location, pennsylvania and north. Lets go. He was a hero to his people at the time. We should expect heroes. Mr. Leggett should use a diplomatic way to come to his conclusion rather than be a dictator. I applaud county executive egg get for leggett for his courage in announcing the statue will be removed. Theres no timetable for removing the statue and its still unclear where it will be removed.
