So exercise in the morning, not in the evening. Yellow alert tomorrow for thunderstorms. Cold front will break the heatwave, okay . Low humidity rolls in wednesday and stays for the rest of the week. They roll through during the early and midafternoon. Were still 90 at 5 00, upper 80s in the suburbs and then by 7 30 could be a few leftover showers, dont see anything heavy after 5 00 at all and then lower humidity rolls in. Tonight well say partly cloudy and muggy tonight, low temperatures in the 70s to around 80 downtown. So on the day planner, wow, 80 to start, 80 at 7 00, 84 at 9 00, at 11 00, perhaps a shower by 11 00, 90 by 1 00, perhaps a better chance of a shower or thunderstorm at 1 00. So wednesday warm, yes, but much less humid, 88, a fantastic day and 90 on thursday, but still nice, also a fantastic day. Next seven days, so nats in town tonight, in fact, through wednesday. Wednesday is a noon game, only 88. Thats pretty much perfect and then 90 on thursday and friday but still nice, 89 on saturday, still pleasant, back in the low 90s on sunday, a little more humid, perhaps an isolated storm and then 90 on monday also with an isolated storm. There is word that a mark train on the way to brunswick ran into a truck today at about 4 46 p. M. , 600 passengers on board. As you might imagine, its a big mess. Traffic has been stopped. Its right near seminary road. Were joined now on the phone by Neil Rosendahl who was actually on that train. Neil, can you hear us . Yeah. I sure can. How you doing . Just fine, thanks. The bigger question is how are you doing . What did you feel . What did you see . Question, we were sort of just enjoying a quiet ride up the brunswick line and well, we were sort of just enjoying a quiet ride up in the brunswick line and i was in the front car of the train and all of a sudden you heard this really loud bang. The whole car started shaking and probably the next 10 seconds a little bit of chaos of people yelling and the car shaking until it sort of came to a complete stop and, you know, thats kind of where weve been ever since. So any word of anybody hurt on the train and how are you feeling . I feel great and there are a lot of police and fire here now and everybody that ive heard or seen has said theyre all right and there may be one or two people stepping out as a precaution, but fortunately is looks like everybody on the train is okay. Were looking at some shots right now of the dump truck or we just were and our News Partners at the Washington Post are reporting that that dump truck driver may have suffered some sort of injury, but were also hearing that the line service, the brunswick line service, is suspended indefinitely. Have you all been told anything on the train about the status of when youre going to be able to move again . Nothing specific as far as the status. They said were not going anywhere for a while. You know, theyve also said that they just said the train is damaged enough were not going to be moving this train for any reason. So were going to be here for a while and this train probably isnt going anywhere for a while. Its 95 degrees out there. Are you guys hot . Is the air conditioning working . No. Everything works on the train. The air conditioning is working and i think thats the reason why they havent evacuated us. Were just sort of sitting on the train in the air conditioning rather than going out into the heat until we get further word on how theyre going to get us all out of here. I suppose thats the better thing, right, to be on the train stuck on the train with the cold instead of out in the heat. Whats the mood on the train . How are people doing on the train . Everybody seems to be in pretty good spirits. Its pretty organized as far as the police and fire. They really seem to be on top of things and one of the things that weve heard is people farther back on the train, middle of the train toward the back, they didnt feel a thing, but up here i can tell you we sure felt it for about 10 seconds there. Wow. Well, neil, thank you so much for calling in and giving us some information. We know youre on the first car of the train. At this point none of us seems to know what caused this crash, but if you hear anything else, call us back. All right. Ill let you know. Appreciate it. We want to go back to our breaking news about the marx train that hit a dump truck in silver spring. Our kurt brooks is there on the scene. What do you see . What do you know . Reporter okay. I arrived just a few minutes ago here to where the train is located, the front of the train. You can see its not horribly damaged, but it has received damage. Im going to walk up and youre going to see that the front bumper of the train four lack of a better word has taken for lack of a better word has taken damage. The light has been broken, doesnt look like any glass has been broken or anybody was injured up there. Currently the conductor and rescue officials have been working in and out of the train here. So far weve only heard of one lightly injured individual being treated on the train itself and theres a rescue group out on the other side of this fence line. These are homes here which abut the train tracks here. They are making it through an access hole in the fence right there to visit people on the train. So far fortunately the people on the train appear to be okay and with one exception and the engine is still running, so they have air conditioning and theyre sheltering in place right now. It certainly cannot be determined as to whether or not theyre going to be able to move the train any time soon with this damage. So reporting live here on the scene im kurt brooks for wusa9. Hey, kurt, i know youre just getting there. Any idea whether the heat played a role in all this . Reporter i dont know. I mean it was a collision that started the incident with a large truck about, oh, call it 1 4, 1 2 mile down that away. Its one of the few crossings along this stretch of tracks. There was a rolloff dump truck that was involved apparently and that operator is definitely being treated for injuries, although my understanding is he, too, did not receive life threatening injuries. We have to wait on that end and i believe we have a crew working their way down there to be able to determine how it is down on that end. All right.
