D. C. Police say he attacked 24 yearold Kevin Sutherland on a red line train on july 4 as it was approaching the Noma Gallaudet station. Police believe the moifer was robbery. We spoke motive was robbery. We spoke with kevins father who said the senseless murder was all over a cell phone. D. C. Police not confirming that but they did say a smashed cell phone was found outside the station. Kevin sutherland is originally from connecticut but moved here to d. C. To attend american university. It was there his friends tell us he fell in love with the city with politics and advocating for causes he was passionate about. His friends talked to us yesterday about how they will remember him. He was one of the kindest people ive ever known. And its going to be hard without him but i think the best way the best way to honor him is to keep believing in what he believed in, keep doing what he wanted us to do. Prince georges county police say they found the man suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. So far police have no suspects and no motive in the case. This Morning Police are looking for a fourth suspect wanted in a deadly shooting at fredricksburg, virginia. They say karim rose is armed and dangerous. The 21yearold has been linked to last months shooting of deshawn dorsey. Dorsey was sleeping when a bullet entered his apartment and struck him in bed. Three our suspects are already in custody. Also this morning, police are investigating a deadly shooting in upper marlboro. Investigators say a homeowner shot and killed his ex boyfriend when the man tried to break into his house. 30yearold craig corbin, jr. Was killed. Investigators say corbin had a history of protective orders filed against him. The shooting is still under investigation. Today should be business as usual but yesterday some workers went into hiding. Others came outside with their hands up after a scare that prompted a lockdown for areas yesterday at walter reed military medical center. Workers were told to shelter in place after a report of a gunshot. Police swarmdz the campus on swarmed the campus on route 355 but investigators say there was no gunman and no gunshot. Having these false alarms are good because it shows people are paying attention and care. The false report comes less than a week after police also swarmed the Washington Navy yard for a similar fault alert. A commuter alert this morning for future passengers of the purple line. Theyll be trying to find the body after person killed yesterday when part of a melting cave collapsed. It happened at big four ice caves about an hour and a half outside seattle. Because conditions of the ice are so dangerous at this point, teams from every mountain rescue and other search and rescue volunteers are looking at the conditions of the ice to see how safe it is. Witnesses describe it as a gruesome site. Four other people were seriously hurt. This is not the first time tragedy has struck the caves. In 2010 an 11yearold girl was killed by fallen ice there. A child abuse case could soon become a murder case now against a man accused of beating his girlfriends child for sneaking a piece of birthday cake. The 9yearold boy jack garcia of hagerstown has died. Initially the suspect Robert Wilson was charged with assault and child abuse. Now that the boy has died, prosecutors will consider adding the murder charge. Wilson is still in jail this morning. New this morning, South Carolina may soon see the removal of the Confederate Flag from the state house grounds. Yesterday the senate voted overwheppingly in favor of overwhelmingly in favor of that measure. They have one more vote to formalize the decision. Then its on to the house. While state senators debated inside, tensions ran high outside. Its about heritage and its about honoring over 300,000 southern americans who bled and gave their lives.
