Shooting in the heart of center city has Philadelphia Police on the hunt tonight. 8 30 last night someone shot a man a 25yearold man near a wendys near chestnut and 15th. Now, police got the call about around the same time short time later they found the victim a few blocks away on wall net street. Now, they say the man was shot in his right hand ran to the apple store for help. Medics took him to hahnemann hospital. He is expected to be okay. Police dont have anyone in custody. Two years after an ambush on a Philadelphia Police officer and the man charged in that shooting is now on trial. Reporter lucy, that mans name is Edward Archer he turns his head away today when the images of this alleged bloody attack of officer Jesse Hartnett appear on monitors in the courtroom. Officer Jesse Hartnett moved to and from Court Thursday surrounded by family and supporters his fellow cops in Union Leadership also at the courthouse in support. In a courtroom several floors above this street jurors viewed images of the sudden brutal attack of hartnett 11 40 at night, january 7th, 2016. The attempted assassination of Philadelphia Police officer not two days after i was sworn in as a matter of fact. So obviously i will never forget it. Reporter hartnett as alleged attacker 32yearold Edward Archer declaring an allegiance to terrorism hes accused of blasting away as he charged at hartnett seated in his cruiser at 60th and spruce. Captured on video hartnett wounded chased archer firing and striking him. In court, archer sat slouched turning away from the images showing the officer blood spotterred vehicle in the hours after the alleged attack. He made an admission. Addicted for over 36 years. High 24 years i went back out now i got maybe like two, three months coming up. Reporter at the last stop in kensington, they deal with addiction every day from their own team in recovery to user that is just need a meal an place to crash. There were some who said sentenced rehab just doesnt work. Sentenced to judges they go because they have to go. They want it, they can get it if they dont want it theyre not going to get it. Reporter after hearing constantly that you cant force recovery, i was shocked at how many people actually supported the idea. Chemicals leave. Thought process comes back. Little voice called conscience starts speak to go. Called the rescue because a lot of these guys need to be rescued even praise whoever came up think idea. Students at lafayette say the lacrosse recruit was at a party september 9th. Authorities found him unconscious near a dorm the next day. Williams died at the hospital.
