After becoming the first write-in candidate locally to earn a spot in a runoff election, Alyssa Cigarroa completed the historic effort Saturday. According to unofficial final results, Cigarroa received 84% or 2,565 of the votes for the Laredo City Council seat in District VIII. Incumbent Roberto Balli received 16% or 476 of the people’s votes.
